Reported last week in PC Pro, leading security firms AVG and Symantec have been accused of ripping off their customers by cutting short their AV subscriptions once they had upgraded to different versions of the software.
How?
Believe it or not, pop-ups and email were the mechanisms used to dupe customers into taking discounts on subscriptions, which started immediately.
The result? A big fat FAIL!
Customers lost the remainder of their existing plan and were advised (after the fact) by both AVG and Symantec to upgrade as close to the end of their subscription as possible.
Sounds like they are both taking a page out of the spammers handbook, and we here at Email Security Matters think that’s a big fat FAIL! Come on..that’s no way to treat your loyal customers!
